An Aberdeenshire community will have a pub once more, after its last one closed its doors four years ago.

But yesterday, plans put forward by the Irvine Arms company were officially approved for a new pub, located on the land west of Keithmuir Gardens, complete with car parking, a function suite, dining facilities, a lounge and more.
Also included in the plans are a beer garden with outdoor seating and tables, and staff accommodation.
The project attracted two letters of objection from local residents, who highlighted concerns that it could result in noisy disturbances in the area and infringe on the natural environment of Drumoak.
However, councillors at yesterday’s Kincardine and Mearns area committee unanimously approved the proposals, following a recommendation to allow the project to proceed by planners.
