A large scale search at Aberdeen beach has been stood down after concerns were raised for someone in the sea. Emergency services – including the Bond 1 rescue helicopter – were rushed to the beach at around 5.15pm. A member of the public found clothing on the Beach Esplanade, raising the alarm. They were worried someone was in the water. Both lifeboats from the Aberdeen RNLI station, coastguard teams from the city and Stonehaven and the police were all scrambled to the scene. The emergency was stood down after around an hour. Rescuers are satisfied the clothing is lost property and did not belong to anyone who had taken to the water.
