Police are investigating the assault of a man in Banff.
The 56-year-old man was walking his dog on Monday night in the Castlehill area of the town when he was reportedly attacked.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Banff inspector Colin Taylor said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a report of an assault on a 56-year-old man in the Castlehill area of Banff.
“The incident happened at around 9.30pm on Monday, 6 May.
“The assault was reported to us on Tuesday, 7 May and our inquiries are at an early stage.
“Anyone who saw anything unusual or suspicious is asked to contact police.”
The man originally refused medical assistance but attended hospital for treatment the following day.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We received a call at 2149 hours on 6 May to attend an incident in the Castlehill area of Banff.
“One ambulance was dispatched, however, the patient refused transport to hospital.”
