An Aberdeen man has been honoured at a national awards ceremony for those with learning disabilities.
Local stalwart Greg Brands was named winner in the Community Champion category at the Scottish Learning Disability Awards event in Edinburgh.
The awards showcase and celebrate the talents and achievements of people with learning disabilities, and the people who work with and for them.
Mr Brands was recognised because of his efforts in making a positive difference to his community, which includes his work for a charity for adults with additional support needs.
As a volunteer at Create Aberdeen, Mr Brands sets up rooms and equipment for art classes and performances and has repeatedly shown an instinct for when other members need extra attention and support.
He also contributes to the community as a DJ, as an actor with the Va Va Voom drama group and as a volunteer at Kirkhill Primary School.
Mr Brands said: “Giving something back with my volunteering at Create Aberdeen and Kirkhill Primary School, and being a DJ for Dance Machine Disco, it means a lot to me.
“I hope other people with learning disabilities in Aberdeen are given the opportunity to contribute to their community the way I have been.”
