A memorial trust set up in tribute to a north-east teacher killed in a car crash is once again looking to donate cash to worthy causes.
The Jo Walters Trust is offering £6,000 to groups in Aberdeenshire from this month, when the Alford woman would have turned 37.
The newly-qualified teacher was just 28 years old when she was knocked off her bike by a van in Brighton in 2010.
Groups and organisations which promote education outdoors and are keen to secure funding should apply.
In recent years grants have paid for a new climbing wall at Gordon Schools in Huntly, a replacement marquee for Kemnay Scouts, and equipment for Aboyne Canoe Club.
Lucy Johnston, Miss Walter’s sister and the chairwoman of the trust, said: “We are so pleased to be able to help people in Aberdeenshire to access outdoor education.
“Last year there were so many applications that we thought Jo would have loved that we ended up awarding eight grants, five more than we had anticipated, and it’s been wonderful to see these coming to fruition over the course of the year. We can’t wait to hear what people will apply for this year.”
