An 84-year-old man has died following a one-car crash near Huntly this afternoon.
The gold Honda CRV left the road on the A97 Huntly to Alford road near Gartly at around 12.45pm.
Emergency crews including police and two fire engines were sent to the scene shortly.
The road has been closed for several hours to allow them to work at the scene.
Police closed the A97 at the junction with the B9002 Insch to Oyne road, and diversions are in place onto the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road in both directions.
Sergeant Alexander Bowser-Riley said: “Sadly a man has died following the collision.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the accident, or who saw the vehicle beforehand, to contact Police Scotland on 101 using reference number 1517 of May 20.”
