Police are appealing for witnesses following a theft by housebreaking at Food Story Cafe and Restaurant.
The incident happened overnight at the Thistle Street eatery on Saturday.
A low three figure sum of cash was stolen.
Detective Constable Paul Wigley said: “We are carrying out enquiries following a theft by housebreaking at Food Story.
“This incident has been be both inconvenient and costly for the owner and we are carrying out a thorough investigation.
“We would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time this happened and may have seen anything unusual or suspicious to contact us on 101 using reference number CF0131070519. Crimestoppers can also be contacted on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.”
