An Aberdeen pupil beat competition from 44 other schools for the chance to design the medals for a city-wide sports festival.
Nada Fawaz’s effort was picked by judges from Sport Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University ahead of this year’s Aberdeen Youth Games.
The Skene Square primary four pupil was presented with a replica of her winning design which was also used for the medals handed out on Friday at Aberdeen Sports Village.
Around 1,500 city primary school children took part in the final event of the games, which promote healthy and active lifestyles.
Nada was presented her prize by the ambassadors of the games: businessman Sir Ian Wood, taekwondo world champion Katrina Carr, table tennis champion Colin Dalgleish, snowboarder Douglas Green and Scottish basketball’s Chris Clearly.
Sport Aberdeen’s Keith Gerrard said: “The winning design was chosen because it captured what the Aberdeen Youth Games is all about – health, wellbeing and participation from a vast range of backgrounds and cultures across the city.
Daniel Sutherland from Gray’s School of Art, said: “Nada’s design has given the medals a great new look for 2019 and it has been great to work with her to develop the finished product, which we hope pupils will appreciate when they take them home from the festival.”
