A woman was caught on film slicing her partner’s hand with a kitchen knife as she “swung” it around in a drunken row.
Magdalena Lipinska returned home from a Christmas night out but was so drunk that her partner asked her not to sleep in the bedroom, which sparked an argument.
Fiscal depute Christy Ward yesterday told Aberdeen Sheriff Court that the 37-year-old then “became very irate” and “began to be aggressive and shouted at him in Polish”.
Ms Ward said: “He began to video the accused due to her erratic behaviour.
“She left the bedroom and he held the door shut. He then let go of the door momentarily, and she began swinging at him with a red kitchen knife.”
The court heard that the seven or eight minute film captured the accused waving the knife about until it sliced the man’s finger, causing a one-inch cut.
Ms Ward added: “She then entered the bedroom and continued to be aggressive and shouted at him in a threatening manner, with the knife still in her hand.”
Lipinska, of Garthdee Terrace in Aberdeen, yesterday admitted assaulting her partner and cutting him with the knife to his injury on December 15.
Defence agent Iain Hingston said the couple, who have been together for 16 years, had a “toxic relationship” when alcohol was involved.
He added: “This is a deeply unfortunate and distressing incident for everyone involved, and that includes the accused.
“The complainer holds no ill will against the accused.
“I think that, if there are any positives to mention, it is that this particular offence has scared both of them.
“She is ashamed and embarrassed to be here. She feels she has let her family and children down and is apologetic.”
Sheriff Ian Wallace told Lipinska to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work as part of a community payback order, and put her on a year-long supervision order.
