The alarm was raised at around 4pm after the signal was picked up by two aircraft flying north of the Buchan town. The RNLI’s The Misses Robertson of Kintail was launched and searched the area. No signal was found or heard. The volunteer crew had returned to its base in Peterhead South Harbour by 5.20pm.
