An Aberdeen man has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after sending a compromising photo of a woman to her mother.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard yesterday that Samuel McIntosh initially claimed he shared the image, showing the woman in her underwear, by mistake.
When he was questioned by police about the incident, which took place on January 31, he admitted that the excuse sounded “ridiculous” but said he was “trying to send the images to himself”.
The 22-year-old later pleaded guilty to charges of stalking and assault, the latter of which related to an attack on a man in Aberdeen on Thursday, January 17.
After telling officers that he sent the message in error, McIntosh was asked about a text the woman had received threatening the release of the photo.
He said: “Yes, I just wanted to scare her a bit.”
The court also heard that McIntosh had targeted the woman on a number of other occasions, contacting her by email and text and using “grossly offensive terms”.
Sheriff Andrew Miller said: “This was a very unpleasant course of conduct against a young woman.”
McIntosh, of Chapel Street, must now complete 100 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.
He will also be given a year of social work supervision and has been handed a non-harassment order preventing him from contacting the woman for the same period of time.
