The incident, which involved a motorcycle and a Mazda, took place on the A948 Ellon to New Deer road, at the Stuartfield turn-off, shortly after 8am. Police and ambulance were called to the scene and the motorcyclist was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. His injuries were believed to be serious, but not life-changing. It was not known if the driver of the car had been injured. The road was closed for close to an hour and was re-opened around 9am.
