Councillors have been urged to throw out an Aberdeen bar’s application to keep an outdoor area open later.
Soju Bar and Restaurant, formerly Dizzy’s, on Carden Place have asked for permission to open the first-floor terrace until midnight on Monday to Friday.
It presently closes at 11pm.
But officers have recommended councillors on the planning committee turn down the application following complaints from local residents about the noise.
A total of six objections have been sent, including from Queen’s Cross and Harlaw Community Council and the council’s environmental health team.
There has been one letter of support.
A report to the committee on Thursday reads: “The proposed extension to the existing permitted hours of operation of the open terrace is unacceptable due to the likely adverse impact it would have on the amenity and subsequent function of adjoining offices, as well as the amenity of nearby residential properties, as a consequence of likely more prolonged noise disturbance from patrons of the bar and restaurant.”
