A north-east woman has been recognised for ten years of fundraising success.
Angie Shearer, from Huntly, organised the Twilight Walk in Inverurie in 2010 to mark the tenth anniversary of her Granny Thompson’s death from cancer.
Since the first event, more than 5,000 people have taken part in the annual 10K walk, raising over £339,500 for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work.
And in 2001, Ms Shearer and friends entered the charity’s Relay For Life event, which at the time was held in Aberdeen.
The team took part in the event from 2001 to 2004, before Ms Shearer herself took over as volunteer event chairwoman in 2005.
In 2006, the relay moved from Aberdeen to Peterhead and during the next 8 years of Angie’s leadership, went from strength-to-strength.
Ms Shearer, who is also a PE teacher at Alford Academy, has had a “faithful” group of volunteers who have helped her throughout the years.
Fiona Harvey from Cancer Research UK said : “I would like to thank Angie and her Relay team and volunteers for the incredible contribution they have made to our vital work.
“Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer.
“However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of volunteers and supporters like Angie Shearer and her team.”
