A man has died and two people have been arrested following an “incident” in Cuminestown in the early hours of this morning.
Police officers were called to an address in the Formartine village at around 4.45am today.
An injured man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, however he later died.
Police have confirmed that two men have been arrested in connection to the incident.
Detective Inspector Gary Winter said: “Inquiries are at an early stage and there will be a significant police presence and activity in the Turriff and Cuminestorn areas whilst we carry out our investigation into this incident.
“This would appear to have been an isolated incident and there was no wider threat to the local community.
“Anyone who saw or heard anything in the area is asked to phone the police on 101.”
