Plans have been established to make Banff more tourist-friendly by creating a visitors map in the town centre displaying its attractions.
The Rotary Club of Banff has applied for permission to build the sign outside the former tourist information office at St Mary’s car park.
The map is designed to point the way towards attractions such as Duff House, the Deveronvale Football Club ground and the Smiddy silversmiths centre.
The idea has been made possible after the Rotary Club was awarded money from the Aberdeenshire Council regeneration programme in April.
The planning application lodged with the local authority describes the dimensions of the new map as well as the text that will feature on it.
It will state: “Boasting one of the best preserved townscapes in Scotland, Banff is a delightful town to explore.
“It is home to a former royal castle, Duff House and its a grounds, a pre-Reformation market cross, the oldest museum north of Perth and a restored marina.
“Coupled with this, Banff houses many unique independent businesses and there are plentiful cafes and restaurants to taste some local produce while you enjoy your time here.”
