Community leaders have hit out at the “lowest of the low” robber who targeted their premises during a “despicable” theft.
Kinellar Community Hall was broken into in the early hours of Friday, when a man climbed through an office window before making off off with a till.
The facility in Blackburn offers a range of gym and sports facilities, and has halls which can be hired out by groups in the local community.
After calling the police, hall manager Michael Todd looked back at the CCTV footage.
The culprit arrived on the scene at 3.49am and, within just three minutes, fled clutching the till. It is not yet known how much money was inside it at the time.
Later that morning, Mr Todd took to social media and wrote a scathing assessment of what had just happened.
He stated: “Should the individual that’s involved be reading this, I hope you are proud.
“Stealing from a charity is the lowest of the low.”
He added: “If anyone was going about at this time and might have seen anything, I would greatly appreciate any information.
“Hopefully, whoever it was gets caught.”
Mr Todd was full of praise for the “brilliant” police officers who helped him after the disturbing incident.
Local councillor Martin Ford said: “I am very sorry to hear of this clearly disgraceful and criminal behaviour.
“Frankly, it is pretty despicable to make your way into someone else’s property and carry off stuff that doesn’t belong to you.
“In this case, it is a charity which provides very important community services, but it wouldn’t be any different if it was a business or private property.
“It just shouldn’t happen, it is against the law and the person who did it is a criminal and a thief.
“I wish the police every success in finding the person who did it.”
