Vintage tractors, bale rolling and pet portraits were just some of the attractions which crowds enjoyed at an Aberdeenshire agricultural event at the weekend.
As well as showcasing the best of the country’s livestock, the 166th Echt Show hosted 80 trade stands and a food fayre highlighting local produce.
There were also family-friendly demonstrations such as horse shoeing and sheep shearing at the celebration of rural life on Saturday.
The show is run by Echt, Skene and Midmar Agricultural Assoociation and was held at a site just off the B9119 Aberdeen to Tarland road, next to Echt School.
Louise Reilly joined the organising team as secretary this year after being one of the enthusiastic attendees in the past.
She said: “I’ve lived in the area for 15 years and always thought the Echt show looked really interesting.
“Being part of the show been a great way to get involved in the wider community and meet new people.
“We had a really good turnout this weekend, the weather started off a little dull but then things brightened up in the afternoon.
“The demonstration of the vintage tractors was a highlight, we had a much higher number than last year, with almost 50 involved.
“We had a lot of public participation events, as well as professional competitions.
“The bale rolling was also fun, we divided people into teams and they had four wrapped hay bales to race with.”
As part of Scotland’s year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, Aberdeenshire Council funded an extra marquee showcasing traditional crafts and music this year
Organisers worked alongside police officers to ensure one of the most popular parts of the day, the evening marquee dance aimed at over-18s, went safely.
In the past, the proceedings have been marred by drink-fuelled trouble and police reminded people to behave themselves at the dance.
The event went off without a hitch, with local singer and young farmer Ellie Robertson, from Keith, taking to the stage ahead of the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
