An Aberdeen man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his mother at her home in the city.

Carol Milne died at a property on Clifton Road early on Thursday morning.

Police arrested and charged Jordan Milne the following day and he appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.

The 24-year-old, whose address was given simply as Aberdeen, made no plea and was remanded in custody.

The procurator fiscal said he would appear again in court in the next seven days.

Yesterday, flowers and cards continued to pile up at Mrs Milne’s home as well-wishers paid tribute to the “quiet but kind” Marks & Spencer employee.

The trbiutes were left outside the property, where a police presence is still being maintained.

A note, signed by Mrs Milne’s other son Curtis said: “I love you, I miss you”.

Other mourners’ tributes described a “very special lady” and a “kind-hearted and special woman taken too early”.

Mrs Milne, was was originally from Keith, had lived in the house with her husband for a number of years.

Emergency services were called to their home in Woodside around 4.30am last Thursday.

Police searched bins and bushes in the streets surrounding Clifton Road on Friday and cordoned off the nearby Stewart Park as part of the investigation.

Police issued a statement from the 59-year-old’s family on Friday morning.

They said: “Carol was well-known and loved by many, and will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.”

Her neighbours described a” quiet and friendly” person, who kept herself to herself but “always smiled” when she met them.
