Dozens of iconic cars will visit an Aberdeenshire castle this month to raise cash for charity.

The Grampian branch of the Jaguar Enthusiast’s Club (JEC) will hold its 20th yearly gathering at Drum Castle on July 28, with proceeds going to The Archie Foundation, an organisation that helps to support sick children all across the north-east.

The Annual Gathering and Car Show will feature vintage Jaguars and Daimlers, dating back as far as the 1950s, as well as iconic modern favourites.

Around 60 vehicles will be on show in the castle’s south lawn, and hundreds of visitors are expected to attend the event.

Jim Mann, the Grampian regional chairman of the JEC said: “The popularity of the club’s annual event continues to increase each year.

“During the 19-year history of the annual gathering, we have welcomed thousands of passionate Jaguar and Daimler car owners and interested spectators who enjoy seeing the best of the north-east’s cars all together and on show.

“We are really grateful to all our sponsors for the support they have shown both the club, and our chosen charity.

“In 2018, we raised £2,950 for Mental Health Aberdeen, so we are hoping for a good turnout this year to match, or even better than that amount.”

But the event won’t just be for motoring fans, as entertainment and attractions for the whole family will also be on offer.

Mr Mann added: “Drum Castle is a lovely place to spend an afternoon, and visitors will be treated to a host of entertainment, including music from the Gordon Highlanders Association pipe band, a raffle, and bottle stalls with plenty of prizes to be won.

“There will also be a select number of trade stands offering car restoration and servicing in the north-east

“The National Trust will be offering refreshments, including soup, sandwiches, tea, coffee and soft drink, and the JEC will be selling strawberries and cream as well as cake and home bakes, so there will be lots for everyone to see and do.”

The premium raffle prize this year is the chance to use either an F-Type or F-Pace Jaguar for a weekend.

The show will be open to the public from noon until 4pm.
