The Lord Provost of Aberdeen, Barney Crockett, has represented the city at the Sister Cities International (SCI) three-day conference, which got underway in Houston on Wednesday.
Sister City relationships are official links established through formal agreements by municipal governments.
Aberdeen has been a member of the SCI since 1979 with the Houston Grampian Association in Texas supporting the partnership with the Granite City.
Houston City has also now recognised Aberdeen as its sister city for the first time.
During this year’s conference, Mr Crockett joined mayors from around the world at special sessions on Africa, China, Mexico, Japan and Germany.
He said: “The SCI conference is the ideal platform to showcase what Aberdeen has to offer in terms of being a business centre with globally competitive industries, not only in energy and renewables, but food and drink, tourism, research and education as well as diverse cultural offering.
“We are unique port city that is known for its innovation in the process of a major transformation, which makes Aberdeen an exciting place to be.
“We want to share our knowledge and expertise with the Sister Cities to enable all member cities to benefit and flourish.”
