Emergency services were called to the B9170 Inverurie to New Deer road, close to Cuminestown, on Saturday afternoon. UPDATE: The cyclist is understood to have sustained serious and potentially life-threatening injuries while riding their pedal bike over a bridge. However police were unable to confirm the extent of their injuries or whether another vehicle had been involved. The road remained shut for several hours and was not re-opened until around 10.30pm.
