Crews were sent to Balmedie Beach just before 4pm. Both surfers were able to make it back to the shore, and have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary to be checked over. A Coastguard spokeswoman said: “We were responding to a report of two persons being swept out to sea. “The did make their way back to shore unaided. “We had crews en route so they continued, and Rescue Bond One has taken them to hospital.”
