Huge names from the world of Scottish entertainment, including Annie Lennox, Sharleen Spiteri and Calvin Harris, have pledged to help fund the expansion of a north-east neurological care centre.
Dee View Court, which is run by charity Sue Ryder in Aberdeen, looks after people with a range of conditions including multiple sclerosis, Huntington’s disease and motor neuron disease (MND).
While it currently cares for 24 people, work is underway on a new wing that will increase this number to 44.
Fundraising for the £3.9 million project is still ongoing and a string of celebrities have now offered prized items to be auctioned off for the cause.
Texas frontwoman Sharleen Spiteri, whose father has Parkinson’s, has donated two tickets for the band’s performance at C4r-Fest in Hampshire on Sunday August 25.
The winners will also have a chance to meet her before the show.
She said: “I know from experience the difference that places such as Sue Ryder Dee View Court make for people who are living with neurological conditions.
“The charity needs to raise £3.9 million to expand the centre and I really do wish them the best of luck in getting there.”
Annie Lennox has placed a pair of tickets for her sold-out one-woman show at the AECC on September 26 under the hammer for the charity.
Meanwhile Bobby Gillespie from Primal Scream and DJ Calvin Harris have both donated signed albums and Simple Minds have offered a pair of meet-and-greet tickets for an upcoming performance in 2020.
Pamela Mackenzie, Sue Ryder’s director of neurological services, said: “We are overwhelmed to have such amazing donations from Scotland’s most famous and beloved musicians.
“Money raised from these donations will bring us one step closer to expanding Dee View Court and providing more specialist neurological care for people across Scotland.”
