A pair of Aberdeen parks are in the running to be named best in Britain.
The city’s Seaton and Duthie green spaces have been nominated for the UK’s Best Park Award, which is organised by charity Fields in Trust.
There will now be a public vote to decide what is the UK’s finest, with some 364 sites taking part.
Aberdeen Central MSP Kevin Stewart said the nominations were “testament to the hard graft” of the volunteers and staff who maintain Duthie Park and Seaton Park.
“I’m very proud that Aberdeen boasts such widely acclaimed green spaces and I wish both parks all the best in the upcoming awards,” he said.
Aberdeen Lord Provost Barney Crockett added: “Aberdonians have long had a special place in their hearts for the city’s parks and it’s great to see them get this national recognition.”
The online public vote is open until noon on Monday August 19 and support can be registered by visiting www.fieldsintrust.org/best-park/scotland.
Fields in Trust Chief Executive Helen Griffiths said: “Our parks and green spaces are a vital part of UK community infrastructure.
“We know they provide benefits to the physical health, mental wellbeing and community connections for people that use them, so we are delighted to see a record number of nominations.
“It is encouraging to see so many people celebrating how much they love their local park.
“Fields in Trust is committed to protecting these valuable and much-loved parks and green spaces for future generations to enjoy.”
