Flash flooding hits north of Scotland as thunderstorms roll in

A weather alert has been issued as the north of Scotland recovers from flash flooding.
A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms concerning all of Scotland has been issued by the Met Office.
Heavy thundery showers are expected today and will also be bringing some disruption tomorrow.
A Met Office statement said: “Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.”
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning.
“Flooding of homes and businesses could happen quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.”
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) also issued 17 flood alerts including six about the north of Scotland.
This comes as the town of Elgin in Moray is currently being hit by heavy flooding. The same situation happened in the town of Dingwall in the Highlands yesterday.

The SEPA warned against “prolonged and heavy showers” in the north-east of Scotland “heavy and thundery showers” in the south-west.
SEPA is also reminding people to “remain vigilant and remember, it is your responsibility to take actions which help protect yourself and your property.”
