A teenager who admitted starting a string of wildfires in Aberdeen has been locked up for nine months.
Ryan Smith, a 19-year-old sex offender who previously admitted targeting underage girls, admitted being responsible for devastating wildfires when he previously appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court last month.
He pleaded guilty to wilful fireraising at the Gramps nature reserve.
Smith is already serving three years in detention after being convicted at the High Court earlier in July of having sex with two teenage girls, a sexual assault and sending lewd photographs.
Emergency crews dealt with a series of significant blazes at the nature reserve and Nigg Bay Golf Club in Torry between September 9-22 last year.
This afternoon, Smith returned to the dock and was sentenced to nine months in detention in relation to the fires.
