Aberdonians flocked to the city centre yesterday to help celebrate one of Scotland’s greatest heroes.
Crowds gathered around the statue of William Wallace, between Rosemount Viaduct and Union Terrace, as part of annual celebrations organised by the Wallace 700 Association.
After a Piper’s Welcome by Gordon Casely, Craig Mitchell and Callum Ross, the ceremony went on to feature speeches and musical performances before the group marched to St Mark’s Kirk.
Local councillor Bill Cormie said: “This is a great event that I have been a regular at over the years.
“The numbers have sadly diluted slightly in recent years – when Tartan Day was on the go, we would have crowds in the thousands.
“But everyone is still jolly, youngsters and people from across Aberdeen have come out and they have helped celebrate William Wallace together.”
