Thousands of charity workers, volunteers and supporters paraded through Aberdeen city centre this weekend to mark the work of the north-east’s third sector and its unsung heroes.
Celebrate Aberdeen returned to the streets of the Granite City for its ninth years and around 130 organisations took part.
Before the Union Street parade, runners of all ages took part in the one-mile race after setting off from the Music Hall.
Morven Mackenzie, who dreamt up the idea of Celebrate Aberdeen in 2011, said previously: “Our fantastic third sector and all of the organisations taking part do so much for us all every day of the year, so this day is all about saying thank you to them.”
The conclusion of the parade marks the beginning of a weekend of live entertainment taking place at five venues across the city centre – Bon Accord, Bon Accord Roof Garden, Union Square, Trinity Centre and Broad Street. All events are completely free of charge.
Next month, the hard work of the north-east’s third sector will be further recognised at the Celebrate Aberdeen Awards on September 14.
