An Aberdeenshire hospital is getting an artistic makeover to improve the environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Work has started on the development of the Donbank Ward patient garden and health centre forecourt garden at Inverurie Hospital.
Bespoke artwork will also be installed at the health centre.
Edinburgh-based artist Paula Thompson will be working with community groups, the Friends of Inverurie Hospital and staff from the Donbank Ward in the coming months.
An acclaimed visual artist, Mrs Thompson has more than 15 years’ experience creating artwork for public spaces in the health, arts and education sectors.
She meticulously researches all her projects, exploring the history of the site and its surrounding area as the prelude to creating art connected to the site’s environment.
Community groups in Inverurie who are interested in being part of the project at Inverurie Hospital, or anyone who has local knowledge which they think may be useful, should get in touch with the Grampian Hospitals Art Trust (GHAT) at grampian.hospitalsarttrust@nhs.net.
As part of its purpose to enhance the wellbeing of all those who spend time in NHS Grampian premises, GHAT commissions artwork for new developments and hangs work from its extensive collection of 4,000 artworks in hospitals across the region.
