Aberdeen South MSP Maureen Watt has held talks with Muller following the news that 50 jobs could go at their distribution site in Altens.
Ms Watt has previously expressed concerns about the decision and has since received confirmation from the Scottish Government that their PACE team is in place to support affected staff.
When the potential job losses were announced earlier this month, staff were left “devastated.”
Muller is proposing to relocate its operations to existing sites in central Scotland, which are closer to its customers’ regional distribution centres.
It follows the closure of Muller’s milk processing facilities in Aberdeen in 2016 – a move which resulted in many of its farmer suppliers in the region having to pay 1.75p per litre of milk produced to get it transported to the central belt for processing.
Muller has clarified to Ms Watt that the proposals should have no impact on dairy farmers in the north-east and that the consultation with staff remains ongoing.
She said: “I have now spoken directly with Muller and they have advised me that the consultation with staff remains ongoing and that this is not simply a box-ticking exercise.
“I will maintain a watchful eye on developments to ensure that this is the case and it is my hope that an outcome can be reached that meets the needs of staff and their families.
“Ultimately, this remains a terribly difficult time for those involved, and I will continue to do everything I can to support them.”
