Tribute act Macfloyd leaves Lemon Tree tickled pink

‘We don’t need no education’ – well Friday night was an education in classic British rock music, thanks to Macfloyd.

The delighted crowd at Aberdeen’s Lemon Tree venue showed its appreciation as the Pink Floyd tribute band worked its way through the best of The Wall, with a good bit of Animals and Wish You Were Here thrown in for good measure.

There was even a special appearance by Not Now John, which delighted the hardened fans in the audience, but not as much as when the band turned down the sound during a rendition of Wish You Were Here to encourage the entire crowd to join in and sing it back to them – a special moment.

Another Brick In The Wall Part 2 went down a storm, as you would expect, leading the audience from the mellower feel of the first part of the show, to a much more lively second half.

I’d expected the crowd to be mostly of a certain age, but it was good to see a mix of older and younger fans, being entertained by a band who clearly love their canon, and sharing their adoration of these iconic songs.

The band has been touring Scotland with The Best Of The Wall this summer to mark 40 years of the classic album, and if you’ve not had a chance to catch it yet they move on to Oban and Inverness next month.

By the way, which one’s Pink?
