Matthew Milne and Tracey Morris, KWS charity manager, running the final miles.

An Aberdeenshire man completed a 500 mile run for local charity Kayleigh’s Wee Stars.

Matthew Milne quadrupled his £750 target to raise over £3,500 for the charity, which provides support to families who have a child dealing with a terminal illness.

Mr Milne started out running just one mile at a time, building up to a maximum of 31 miles in one day.

He completed a distance equivalent to almost 19 marathons during his month-long effort.

The 23-year-old completed his final run on Saturday, August 31, with laps around Duthie Park, by which point donations had reached £3,777.

He said: “It has certainly been a challenge, but I am proud to have quadrupled my original target for such a worthwhile cause.

“Kayleigh’s Wee Stars is an excellent local charity that does a lot of great work and I’m proud to be able to support and raise awareness.”

Johnathan Cordiner, Kayleigh’s dad and trustee of the charity said: “Thank you to Matthew and his family for supporting Kayleigh’s Wee Stars and raising awareness of what we do.

“The amazing amount which he has raised will go directly to support families in Scotland where there is a child with a terminal illness.”
