A bridge on an Aberdeenshire estate which forms a key part of a number of popular walking routes will finally be replaced after the disruption caused by Storm Frank in 2015.
The crossing at the Linn of Quoich car park on the Mar Lodge Estate, which spans the Quoich Water west of Braemar, was closed after severe flooding caused the river to change course.
It had formed the start of a number of hill walks in the region but, with the bridge no longer in the correct place, walkers have since been forced to take detours – or get their feet wet.
Mar Lodge Estate has now closed the car park at the Linn of Quoich to allow for replacement works to be carried out.
It is estimated the project will be finished by the end of October.
For the duration of the works, the nearest place for motorists to leave their cars will be the Linn of Dee car park.
Walkers or cyclists will still be able to access the area.
