The construction of a £2.4 million pound nursery and playground at Gordon Primary School in Huntly has now begun.
Proposals were agreed in 2018 for a multi-sensory space aimed at fostering links between nursery children, parents and the local community.
The long disused Deveron building – which had lain unused for a number of years – was demolished to make room for a nursery that will provide space for 80 children.
It should also offer parents living in Huntly and the surrounding area greater flexibility by supporting the expansion of funded early learning and childcare.
The proposed nursery will sit close to woodland and trees in the school grounds, enabling the school to increase its focus on outdoor learning.
It is hoped the building will be complete early next year.
