A north-east man has been banned from the road for a year after being caught nearly four times drink-drive limit.
Seweryn Lukasiewicz was in his van on Balloch Way and Craignook Road in Dyce when police spotted him and pulled him over on August 17.
The 38-year-old, of Muirton Road, Dyce, yesterday admitted driving with excess alcohol.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard he had 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 22mcg.
Lukasiewicz’s solicitor Gregor Kelly told the court: “He had had a friend round and they had been drinking throughout the day.
“The van had been parked on the street and he took the rash decision to move it, realising he was over the limit when he came to the attention of police.
“He realised that getting behind the wheel he was putting himself and others at risk.”
Mr Kelly said Lukasiewicz had only driven “100 or 200” yards and that it had been a “serious misjudgment”.
He added that Lukasiewicz relied on the van for his work and “wouldn’t be able to take on any substantial jobs”.
However, Sheriff Graham Buchanan banned him for 12 months – which will be reduced by three months if he completes the drink-driver rehabilitation scheme – and fined him £700.
