Dozens of venues across Aberdeenshire will throw open their doors this weekend for a popular annual event.
Doors Open Day returns to the north-east for the 30th year, with a whole host of attractions preparing to welcome visitors on Saturday and Sunday.
There are 63 venues participating, ranging from a “but n ben” on Deeside to a busy fish market in Peterhead.
Peter Argyle, chairman of Aberdeenshire Council’s infrastructure services committee, encouraged people to get out and explore the heritage and history of the region.
He said: “Aberdeenshire has a wealth of fascinating architecture and this is an ideal opportunity to explore the area’s rich history and to get a behind the scenes look at properties not usually open to the public.
“I encourage everybody to take the opportunity to get out and about and see what’s on offer.”
Among the participants is Fraserburgh Heritage Centre on Quarry Road, which will be open on Sunday for the public to visit for free from 10am to 4pm.
Through the day special guests including Longside Primary School children and Harp Accord will also be there alongside the exhibits.
At 2.30pm Jennie Milne will also be doing a presentation about her research into the Polish soldiers of the Second World War, many of whom could not return home after the war.
Budding radio stars can also try their hand on air with Mearns FM at Stonehaven Town Hall. The A-listed Downies Cottage in Braemar will also be welcoming guests, along with the team at Scotland’s oldest steam beam engine-powered mill at Garlogie Mill Beam Engine and Turbine House.
