The Scottish Government has overturned Aberdeenshire Council’s decision to reject plans for more than 100 homes in Tarves.
Councillors last year refused Scotia Homes’ plans for 113 homes, citing concerns about the scale of the development and lack of accompanying amenities.
However, the developer appealed to the Scottish Government, which has now overturned the decision.
Reporter Christopher Warren wrote in his decision that the council had acted in an “unreasonable manner” when making their determination.
Last night, Gordon MP Colin Clark said he dismayed at the ruling, adding: “I am disappointed for the council and Tarves residents that Scottish ministers have overturned the view of local elected members.
“This is a huge increase in the village with no obvious addition to facilities.
“There were 66 objections, half of the number of new homes proposed.”
