Strip and lap dancing clubs in Aberdeen may be required to obtain a specific licence to continue operating, under new proposals.
A public consultation has opened on whether or not the city council should introduce additional rules for sexual entertainment venues (SEV).
It follows legislation introduced by the Scottish Government to give local authorities greater control over the businesses offering “sexual entertainment” before live audiences.
This could include imposing additional regulations for premises, or limiting the number of venues allowed to operate in a specific area at the same time.
Aberdeen City Council is giving members of their public an opportunity to give their views on whether a specific licence for SEVs should be introduced.
Following the November 21 deadline, the results will be considered by councillors in December.
If they approve the move, a further 12-month investigation will begin to outline how the new system will function.
