Record numbers of youngsters are being sought to take part in one of the north-east’s biggest sports programmes.
More than 200,000 pupils took part in Active Schools – a partnership programme with Sportscotland that has staff operating in 17 schools across Aberdeenshire – in 2018-19.
And it’s hoped even more will get involved in physical activities in the coming year.
Active Schools works with schools, clubs and communities to help make sure children stay active, with a strong focus on communities that need it the most.
It is dependent on partnerships with schools, volunteers, coaches and clubs in order to offer a variety of sporting activities.
Olympic swimmer Hannah Miley is among its most vocal supporters.
She said: “The more people getting involved the better and the more likely it is we can encourage more kids to get active and be involved.”
The initiative also promotes mental well-being and social skills.
Schools looking to take part in the programme can do so by speaking to their local Active Schools coordinator or emailing activeschools@aberdeenshire.gov.uk.
