A north-east bridge has reopened a week ahead of schedule after it was damaged last month.
Auchmill Bridge, just off the A947 near Plaidy, was closed after sustaining damage from what appeared to be a crash.
The closure, which was anticipated to take months to fix, caused a three-mile diversion for residents living in the King Edward area.
However, the repair works were given a high priority and the bridge has reopened a week ahead of schedule.
MP for Banff and Buchan, David Duguid said: “I am delighted to hear that Auchmill Bridge has re-opened to traffic. The closure caused significant disruption to local residents and businesses alike.”
“I have been in contact with Aberdeenshire Council officials and local ward member Mark Findlater throughout this process.
“The council deserves credit for this swift response and action to get the road open again.”
The one-way system and scaffolding has been removed, but HGVs should still exit via MP39 to U4S.
Several bridges across the north-east are still closed after recent flood damage.
Mr Duguid added: “There are clearly several other bridges locally still awaiting full assessment and repair.
“I was pleased to see the Scottish Government offer funding for Aberdeenshire Council after my party colleague Peter Chapman raised the issue at First Minister’s Questions.”
“I hope we will see the remaining damaged bridges open to traffic as soon as possible.”
