At least one person has been seriously hurt after a crash on a north-east road this afternoon.
The A92 Stonehaven to Inverbervie road has been blocked in both directions at Mill of Uras between Dunnottar Castle and the Arbuthnott junction.
Police are advising drivers to avoid the area and said they expected the road to remain closed in both directions while they investigated.
Paramedics took five people to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with injuries ranging from minor to serious, police said.
The collision, between a black Honda Accord and white Honda CRV, happened at 12.55pm.
A force spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland is currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision on the A92 at Mill of Uras, which happened at around 12:55pm.
“The incident involved a black Honda Accord and a white Honda CRV. Five people have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with injuries, ranging from minor to serious.
“The road has been closed for southbound vehicles at Dunnottar Castle and northbound at the B967. It will remain closed for some time to allow for investigation work.
