A newly-wed caught with a stash of Class A drugs bought for festival season has been fined.
Callum Auchinachie was caught with £300 worth of cocaine and ecstasy on April 18 after he was stopped by police on the A96 Aberdeen-Inverurie road, near Drimmies Farm.
The 27-year-old mechanic admitted being in possession of the drugs when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday – just days after getting married.
Solicitor Brent Lockie told the court his client had bought 3.9 grams of cocaine and 11 ecstasy tablets for various events over the summer.
He said: “He informed police that these were to last for the various music festivals throughout the summer.
“I think it is very unlikely we shall see him again in court and it is safe to say his new wife is not impressed.
“She is aware of the incident and they were still married at the weekend.”
Sheriff Graham Buchanan told Auchanachie, of Cowie Farm House, Drumblade, near Huntly, he would have imposed a fine of £800 had it not been for his guilty plea.
Auchunachie was instead fined £600, which he agreed to pay within a week.
