A stone circle will be closed to the public for a month to allow for tree-felling works to be undertaken.
Aikey Brae, near Old Deer, will be out of bounds from Monday until Tuesday, November 22, in the interests of public safety.
Aberdeenshire Council says the site will be more appealing for visitors after the felling work has been completed, and once overgrown scrubs have been cleared.
The area will be partially replanted afterwards, and access to the ancient spot will be improved over the next six months.
The stone circle, which stands at the summit of Parkhouse Hill, dates back to the late Neolithic-Bronze Age periods.
It comprises 10 stones and covers an area of about 50ft in diameter.
Aikey Brae is considered the most “original, complete, and unimproved stone circle on view in northern Aberdeenshire”.
