The firm behind a now-closed Aberdeen chip shop has been accused of a string of food hygiene offences.
Marco’s XX Ltd – owners of Marco’s Fast Food – and chef Behroz Hamedi are accused of selling food containing raw meat that had been stored at the wrong temperature.
It is also alleged they served “ready to eat” food that contained raw meat.
The Crown also alleges the Belmont Street takeaway continued to sell meat products and other foods that had had been stored at the wrong temperatures after Aberdeen City Council ordered staff to stop.
Charges also relate to failures in food hygiene training for staff and the cleanliness of the shop and inadequate ventilation, which was leaking “excessive amounts of oil and grease”.
Chef and former company director Hamedi, 59, did not appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday when the case called.
It was continued without plea for a month.
Sheriff Graham Buchanan said his attendance was vital, describing Hamedi as the “beating heart” of the business.
