Local government heroes were honoured by union bosses in Aberdeen yesterday.
A day of thanks was organised by the Unison union, with a special bus organised to tour various council facilities and pay tribute to the workers there.
Cakes and bags of treats were handed out as the bus visited Marischal College, Spring Garden, Kittybrewerter, the Williamson family centre, Rosewell houses, Altens recycling centre and Balngask court before arriving back at the town house.
Unison branch secretary Kenny Luke said: “As a union we feel it is important to celebrate champions of local government and thank them for all the hard work they do.
“These staff work hard every day for councils and the people of Aberdeen.
“Everyone is important and every team does vital work. With finances getting tighter and tighter we feel it is important to thank them.”
Lord Provost Barney Crockett said the efforts of some workers often went unrecognised.
He added: “I think it’s important that the thanks comes not just from the unions but the council itself.”
