Canadian developers who intend to build hundreds of homes at a former Aberdeen quarry have been told they need to consult further with locals.
Real estate specialists Carterra has submitted a proposal to the council to create 250 private flats, a gym, function room, public bistro and promenade along the north side of Rubislaw Quarry.
The firm’s previous £68 million plans for 300 units proved highly controversial and were thrown out by councillors last summer.
However Carterra has gone back to the drawing board and submitted fresh designs.
The firm planned a public consultation event on Wednesday, November 20, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Treetops Hotel, Springfield Road, from noon to 7pm.
But Aberdeen City Council has since written to architects Aurora Planning Limited, telling the firm that the level of consultation proposed is “insufficient” and invites must also be sent to Craigiebuckler and Seafield, Rosemount and Mile End and Mastrick, Sheddocksley and Summerhill community councils.
The letter reads: “It is the opinion of the planning authority that the proposed consultation is insufficient for the development proposed.
“Once the required consultation has taken place, a pre-application consultation report should be produced and then submitted to the planning authority at the same time as the planning application.”
Following the consultation period, a formal planning application will be submitted.
Councillors on the planning committee will then vote on the proposals.
