A north-east charity that helps girls at risk of being trafficked has launched its Christmas shoebox appeal.
Stella’s Voice is hoping people will dig deep to support vulnerable orphans in Moldova.
With the cold winter months drawing near, this year’s appeal is looking for donations of filled Christmas shoeboxes and any other basic necessities for the charity’s care homes and people in need in Eastern Europe.
Items requested by the Peterhead-based charity include school items such as pens (blue, black and red), correction fluid, scissors, glue sticks, glue, art paint brushes, art supplies, canvases for art, pencils, coloured pencils, markers and felt-tip pens.
Personal care items required are shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothpaste, feminine pads, tampons, shaving gel/foam, razors, deodorant, facewash, hair bands and other hair accessories, tissues, cleansing wipes, clothing, shoes, bedding, quilts and blankets.
Household items are also needed, including washing-up liquid, liquid hand soap, laundry detergent, floor cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, furniture polish, dish-washing sponges and mops.
Those donating shoeboxes should provide a list of the items inside and they should be wrapped in Christmas paper while empty.
Customs require the lid and box be wrapped separately to allow inspection.
In addition, attaching a £2 coin to the box on the contents list will help with transportation costs.
To donate financially or for more information, go to www.stellasvoice.org.uk/donate or phone 0300 3030 2520.
The closing date for shoebox donations is November 18.
