Picture by KENNY ELRICK Police believe that a blaze which destroyed an Aberdeenshire barn was deliberate. Fire crews were called to Fortree Farm at 6.50pm on Saturday night. A steading containing dozens of hay bales had been destroyed in the large fire. Firefighters worked late into the night to quell the flames. Shocked neighbours described the incident as a “huge loss” for the farm. A police spokeswoman today said: “Inquiries are continuing after a fire in a barn on a farm in Ellon. “Police were called around 6.50pm on Saturday 26 October and at this time the fire is being treated as wilful. “Anyone with information that may assist the ongoing investigation should contact 101 quoting reference number 3231 of 26th October.”
