A boarded-up glass house in a north-east park could soon become a vibrant new community cafe and horticulture base.
Plans for the Vinery, in Banff’s Airlie Gardens, were revealed to the public during a well-attended open day.
Aberdeenshire Council hosted the event, eager to unveil proposals for the site, which have benefited from a £242,832 grant from the Scottish Government Town Centre Fund.
Project operators Scotland’s Association for Mental Health (SAMH) and architects GD Lodge were also on hand to discuss the development.
Chairman of the Banff and Buchan Area Committee, Andy Kille, said he was delighted to see “such keen interest” from the community in the project.
He added: “These proposals have real potential to redevelop the Vinery into a flagship site within Banff.”
Last year the public suggested the B-listed glass house and associated bothy be transformed into a community garden and horticultural skills base, as well as a community kitchen and cafe.
